Corporate Culture Change Programme
ASTD EXCELLENCE IN PRACTICE (www.astd.org)
Together, We Win! (CCSS) was a company wide culture change programme established in HSBC Hong Kong in 2000 to support the launch of the five-year strategic plan. To prepare staff for change and create a service culture, a cross-functional top management team steered the programme team led by Gabrielle O'Donovan. CCSS! was launched in two phases - the CCSS! Event and CCSS at Work!
The one-day CCSS Event for all 15,029 staff consisted of a series of experiential workshops, a live Q&A session with top management plus videos and other activities. Meals and refreshments were provided on site. Once all had been through the event, staff participated in CCSS at Work! which aimed to transfer learning to the workplace via action-planning. Under the guidance of 1,400 Team Leaders, staff took part in sessions on 6 core values and producted team action plans to embed the new way of doing things in everyday practices.
CCSS! is a Chinese proverb for synergy, and the CCSS programme has been extremely successful in achieving it. Surveys show that both external and internal customers recognized a significant increase in job and service satisfaction levels during and after its implementation. The programme generated more thatn HK$40m bottom line impact, and top management also recognized it contributed to HSBC's ability to exceed its five-year strategic goals.
